Fred Shaw on Twin of Blackness, a memoir by Clifford Thompson recently published by Pittsburgh’s Autumn House Press:
“Twin of Blackness unfolds with Mr. Thompson walking the reader through his early personal life. There’s the sudden death of his father and fulfilling personal relationships, as well as a young man’s rite of passage: his first fistfight. From there it moves on to college, romantic and work experiences. His time working for Doubleday Publishing humorously ends with Jacqueline Onassis (where she was an editor) kissing him on the forehead after he’s fired. It’s well-written and straightforward with thoughtful asides, little drama and a bit of name-dropping.”
