“The Allegheny County Library Association and Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures in May launched ‘Stories Connect Us’ to encourage children to engage with literature and their communities.
The program includes a countywide art project competition, the appointment of a local author to serve as Pittsburgh’s Ambassador for Young People’s Literature [ed: Jonathan Auxier] and a citywide recognition of Thursday as Youth Literature Day.
Kate DiCamillo, national ambassador for Young People’s Literature and author of Newbery Honor and Medal-winning children’s novels Because of Winn-Dixie, The Tale of Despereaux and Flora and Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures, will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Lecture Hall in Oakland as part of the Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures Kids and Teen series.”
There are still a *FEW* tickets left for the Pittsburgh event 10/15 – if you are local, don't miss it !
