Some news on the literary front! Eight members of the Pittsburgh City Council are endorsing a Pittsburgh literary festival. Their statement reads, in part: “As Members of Pittsburgh City Council, we are proud to support and endorse a literary festival and encourage the support of the city’s literary, arts, cultural, civic, and community leaders to make this annual reality for Pittsburgh.”
Pittsburgh has always had a vibrant literary scene, and now there’s a push happening for a big, tent-pole event in the city to match the Brooklyn Book Festival, the Texas Book Festival, and other nationally recognized events. What would you think about adding this type of festival to Pittsburgh’s literary offerings?
Let us know your thoughts on Twitter and Facebook… and be sure to tag @Littsburgh so we see them!
We should note: This isn’t a Littsburgh initiative, but we’re in the loop and are always looking for ways to help support Pittsburgh’s literary scene! We’ll share more news as it comes in. For media inquiries, the organizers can be contacted here: pghbookfest@gmail.com.
