We have raised over $1,000 in the past year with our benefit readings for local organizations whom we stand behind and support.
Recent tumultuous events surrounding Hollywood and our current government have pushed the mass reality of sexual harassment and injustices against women back into conversation, going so far as to spark the #metoo campaign across all social networks. For some, it was shocking to see how many have been personally affected by sexual assault and harassment. For many, it came as no surprise at all.
We at Pittsburgh Poetry Review know there is no quick fix to the ugliness and monstrous side of the world, but we do believe in fighting back, giving back, and making sure everyone has a voice.
Sexual violence can affect anyone. If you are the victim of rape or sexual assault, or want to help someone who has been, Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR) is here to help. Their experienced, trained, counselors and advocates provide services that are completely confidential, and just a phone call away: 1-866-363-7273.
Pittsburgh Action Against Rape has been serving the Pittsburgh community for more than 43 years. Located in the Southside, Pittsburgh Action Against Rape is dedicated to assisting victims of sexual abuse and ending sexual violence in our community.
